Talk to and observe professional people in their 30s and 40s. More often than not, you’ll see a stressed out, tired, unfulfilled person who’s life – although it may be filled with material abundance – is difficult, grinding and unhappy. They chose a race long ago, mostly by default, that seemed like a good one, but wasn’t – at least not for them. They have learned to be competent at their chosen work, but it takes lots of effort, every day. They’re not in a job that calls on their unique blend of talents. That limits their success and the possibilities for their life.
It often takes people decades to realize they are running the wrong race (it’s called mid-life crisis). Many never do. They just struggle on doing what they have been trained to do. Here at Rockport, we see lots of people who come to this realization, and we help them change races mid-stream. But it is difficult.
Much better to enter the right race in the beginning. >>
